Wayne Rudd (7th Grade Math/Science)

Mr. Rudd and his family
My name is Wayne Rudd and welcome to 7th grade math and life science.

A little about myself, I was born and raised in San Diego, California.  I grew up playing a multitude of sports and enjoying the coastal opportunities to fish.  After high school I moved to New Zealand where I lived with a Maori/Tongan family for six months.  While there, I fished, played rugby, and worked a whole bunch of crazy and interesting jobs.  After traveling, I went back to school and earned an associate’s degree.  I coached high school track and field at Helix High School in La Mesa, California for eight years and went back to school to complete my bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies.  In 2003, my wife and I moved to Sacramento.  I have been married for 19 years and my wife is a 4th grade teacher here at Pioneer.  We have a beautiful 11-year-old son named Garrett and two kittens.

My educational philosophy is that every student has the ability to succeed when given a safe and positive learning environment.  That is priority in my classes and I continue to enforce those priorities through 4 simple rules:
  • Be Respectful
  • Be prepared
  • Raise a Quiet Hand
  • No Wandering

With that said, I am excited to teach your student and watch them grow as a person in both education and life.

Mrs. Rodgers
Helllo! My name is Mrs. Rodgers. I am excited to be teaching 8th grade at Pioneer! I grew up in this area and attended Pioneer myself! I loved Pioneer when I was a kid and am happy to be back!

I have over 20 years of teaching experience that ranges from kindergarten through eighth grade. My goal is to create a positive learning environment where every student is engaged and takes pride in their own learning and accomplishments!

When I’m not in the classroom I am usually busy taking care of my own family. I have been married to my husband, Mark, for 28 years. We have a daughter, Samantha, who is 25 years old and a son, Tyler, who is 22 years old. As a family we enjoy boating, camping, sports, and going on vacation!

I hope to make this a memorable year for every student and am looking forward to the upcoming school year!

Heather Voigt (8th Grade Math/Science)

Heather Voigt (8th Grade Math/Science)

Ms. Voigt and her children

Hi, my name is Heather Voigt and I am the 8th grade math and science teacher here at Pioneer. I know this is going to be a great year for all of us to learn and grow. This is my 19th year teaching.  I have taught kindergarten, 5th grade, 6th grade, and 7th grade. I have also subbed at many other grade levels throughout the years. I have to say that teaching junior high students is just as rewarding as it is challenging. It is amazing what these students teach me day in and day out.

I have three children who keep me quite busy. I have a 15 year old son, a 12 year old daughter, and a 9 year old son. We are very active family. My children play sports and participate in many after-school activities. It is important for me to teach my kids how to balance school, family, and everything else that comes up in life. Keeping busy with activities helps instill a strong work ethic in and out of the classroom. I find this necessary to be be successful in life.

I look forward to working with you to make this school year a successful one.

Bill Reneau (7th/8th Grade Physical Education)

My name is Bill Reneau. This is my eleventh year teaching 7th and 8th grade Physical Education at Pioneer.  I grew up in the Sacramento area and graduated from Foothill High School.  It’s an honor for me to be able to work with students from my hometown.  After high school I served four years in the Marine Corp with three tours of duty to the Middle East.  I am an easy going guy most of the time and I like to joke around with my colleagues and students.  I look forward to helping my students learn ways to incorporate physical education into their daily lives, My goal is for them each to find an activity they love this year!
